On Dec. 15 Topgolf is set to hold its grand opening for its ninth Florida location and 96th global location in Pompano Beach. The popular recreational sports venue will serve as one of the key attractions at The Pomp, a new development project adjacent to the newly remodeled Harrah’s (formerly Isle Casino Racing Park) at the intersection of Powerline Boulevard and Race Track Road.

The Pomp is a 223-acre, mixed-use development project underway by The Cordish Companies and Caesars Entertainment that will include recreation, retail, dining, hotel, residential, office and lifestyle offerings once complete. Topgolf was one of the earliest confirmed attractions to join The Pomp development and was planned as one of the project’s cornerstone establishments.

“Seeing this come to fruition means as much to me as it does the entire community,” said Pompano Beach City Manager Greg Harrison, who, in 2015, recommended the site as the ideal location for a Topgolf and pitched it to Cordish in 2020 when the company bought the land.

Topgolf is a modern, multi-level, golf complex with climate-controlled hitting bays that makes golfing accessible to players of all levels and ages. Similar to an upscale bowling alley, guests at Topgolf can either reserve a golf bay in advance or walk-in to golf. A restaurant, bar and outdoor patio are available where guests can dine, drink and wait for their bay.

Groups of up to six people can join in one bay. Golfers take turns driving balls toward digital targets based on virtual courses. Topgolf utilizes what they call “Toptracer technology,” which traces each golf ball’s flight path, distance and other metrics to track the ball in the virtual game. There are also themed games, like Topgolf’s signature Angry Birds game, which sets golfers up to aim their balls – their “birds” – to virtually smash down structures, defeat pigs and cause mayhem in the Angry Birds universe. Players can choose beginner, intermediate or advanced levels to match their skill set.

The new Pompano Beach location features 102 bays spanning three levels. A 28-foot video wall with more than 200 HDTVs lines the back edge of the driving range. Each bay has lounge furniture or high-top tables where groups can cheer and heckle their fellow players. Private event rooms and an outdoor area with backyard games are available for team outings, family gatherings or company meetings. Golf lessons will also be offered through Topgolf’s coaching program.

“The grand opening of a signature brand like Topgolf is validation of the steps we have taken to position Pompano Beach as a top destination in South Florida,” said Pompano Beach Mayor Rex Hardin. “The addition of Topgolf gives folks another reason to come to Pompano Beach to live, work and play.”

The establishment is projected to add 400 new jobs to the local market. Individuals interested in applying can visit careers.topgolf.com.

“Opening our Pompano Beach venue is something we’ve been looking forward to for a while,” said Topgolf chief operating and people officer Gen Gray. “We’re honored to be an anchor of The Pomp and be a part of the city’s exciting entertainment landscape.”

Each golf bay at Topgolf is priced by the hour, with the rates varying by day and time, plus a $5 one-time member fee for new players. Regular rates range from $32 per hour, to $62 per hour. On Tuesdays, bays are half price.

To reserve a bay in advance, visit Topgolf.com and select “Plan a Visit.” Or call the Pompano Beach location at 754-310-5023. Regular operating hours are Monday through Thursday from 10am to 11pm; Friday and Saturday from 10am to 1am; and Sunday from 10am to 11pm.

On New Year’s Eve, Topgolf will be open from 10am to 1am; on New Year’s Day from 10am to 11pm.

Topgolf is located at 400 Lucky Lane in Pompano Beach.
