Drive-In movies may have almost become a thing of the past (excepting the Swap N Shop) but Dive-In have begun to be a traditional spring and summertime event in Pompano Beach.  The initial schedule for 2019 has been released with three family fun movies coming to the Pompano Beach’s Houston Swom pool.

Here’s the schedule:  March 22nd: Shark Tale; June 21st: Bernie the Dolphin; August 2nd: Finding Dory.

Each movie event starts at 8 pm.  The Swom Pool is located at 901 NW 10th Street, Pompano Beach.  Admission is free for the whole family.

Shark Tale

Shark Tale is an animated family comedy. The movie stars the voices of  Will SmithRobert De NiroRenée ZellwegerAngelina JolieJack Black, and Martin Scorsese. Additional voices were provided by Ziggy MarleyDoug E. DougMichael ImperioliVincent Pastore and Peter Falk.  According to Wikipedia, Shark Tale is about  the story of a fish named Oscar who falsely claims to have killed the son of the shark mob boss (De Niro) in order toto advance his own  standing in the community. The 2004 film was the first of three Shark Tale movies.  Reviews were mixed including a 35 score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Bernie the Dolphin

Bernie the Dolphin is not a new member of our beloved football team.  It’s a live action family film that came out last year and is set in St. Augustine.  According to IMDB, the adventure movie is about a brother and sister who befriend a badly sunburned dolphin who has been separated from his family.  They then uncover a secret plot to destroy the beach and Bernie’s home. The children devise a plan to stop the criminals, protect sea life, and save their buddy, Bernie.  It stars  Lola SultanLogan Allen, and Kevin Sorbo and got a 67 score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Finding Dory

Finding Dory is the biggest of the three movies.  It received an 95% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.  Finding Dor is the 2016 follow-up to the highly successful Finding Nemo, and is animated.  According to the site, “It reunites the friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish with her loved ones, and everyone learns a few things about the true meaning of family along the way.” The film stars the voices of   Ellen DeGeneresAlbert Brooks, and Ed O’Neill.
