POMPANO BEACH EVENTS: On July 13 the Pompano Beach Cultural Center will unveil a new sculpture by internationally known Australian sculptors Gillie and Marc Schattner. The sculpture explores relationships and love through the artist’s two signature characters — Rabbitwoman and Dogman — who tell the autobiographical tale of two opposites coming together to become best friends and soulmates. The Rabbit and the Dog, as unlikely animal-kingdom companions, represent diversity and acceptance through love.

Last year, Pompano Beach’s Public Art Committee issued a Call to Artists for sculptors; Out of the dozens of applications submitted, Schattners’ sculpture, “We Go Together,” was selected.

“We are thrilled that Gillie and Marc’s creative genius will be on display in our City,” said Laura Atria, Public Art Program Manager for the City. “This Australian husband and wife artistic team is highly regarded all over the world, and it is an honor to have their beloved creative characters, Rabbitwoman and Dogman, on display here in Pompano Beach.”

The unveiling of their sculpture “We Go Together” will be on Saturday, July 13 beginning at 12:30pm at the south entrance of the Pompano Beach Cultural Center at 50 W. Atlantic Blvd., followed by short speeches and light refreshments. The ceremony is free and open to the public.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”8237″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
