Twitter has been raving about the new Popeyes chicken sandwich.  It’s been the star of the internet for the past two weeks.

“The rumors are true according to the internet as well as” Eater’s tasters, “Popeyes was the clear winner [in their taste test], earning top marks by a wide margin in meat, texture/crunch, bun, and overall. The meat was described as moist, the buttermilk batter impressively crisp and craggy, the seasoning flavorful, the pickle crunchy, the brioche bun nicely buttery.”

Kat Thompson on Thrilllist declares, “Popeyes’ First Fried Chicken Sandwich Is the Best New Thing in Fast Food.”  She added, “The chicken sandwich comes in either classic or spicy. The classic version sports regular chicken with creamy mayonnaise, whereas the spicy version calls for spicy chicken (duh) paired with a flavorful Cajun sauce. I, of course, got spicy because tongue-tingling food is the best food, and let me tell you, it was everything I ever dreamed of when I first heard the words ‘Popeyes chicken sandwich’.” 

The Washington Post wrote, “The new Popeyes fried chicken sandwich — added to the menu last week — is, by every measure, a superior sandwich.”

The Chicago Tribune ranked it as the second best chicken sandwich (out of 26 reviewed). Shake Shack was first. Chic-fil-A came in third. Their review stated, “Popeyes chicken… crunches audibly when you bite in, with all those nooks and crannies on the surface shattering into a thousand delicious pieces. This makes for an exciting contrast to the soft bun. The chicken itself is also juicy and well-seasoned..”

We scoured the internet and couldn’t find a negative review for the sandwich.

Even the mighty New Yorker magazine weighed in on the subject, proclaiming ” The Popeyes Chicken Sandwich Is Here to Save America.”
