[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]HURRICANE DORIAN POMPANO BEACH DEERFIELD BEACH UPDATE:  Tuesday, September 3rd, 2:05 PM. The  Tropical Storm Watch for Broward County has been dropped.  This includes Pompano Beach, Lighthouse Point, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and Deerfield Beach, but a Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Palm Beach County, which is, of course, just north of Deerfield Beach, and we know Dorian doesn’t use GPS.

We still may see gusts in excess of 30 mph. The hurricane remains over the Bahamas.  It has dropped to a Category 2, with sustained winds of 110 MPH.  The storm had been sitting in virtually the same spot for almost 24 hours.   It is now heading northwest at 5 MPH.

We could still see bands of heavy rain, winds and even flooding. We have already received reports of wind gusts of 31 mph this morning in Pompano Beach.  Our area is experiencing “King Tides”.  These are higher than normal high tide levels unrelated to the hurricane.  Combined with winds and rain from the storm,  this will increase the potential for flooding in Deerfield Beach, Pompano Beach, Lighthouse Point and Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. High tide in the North Broward area will be around 11:30.  Riptide warnings are in effect (see below).
