[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The first night of the 2019 Pompano Beach Seafood Festival was pleasant if lightly attended. The small crowd at the new location, Community Park on Federal Highway seemed to be having a good time.

We’ve got a photo gallery with pictures from last night’s festival down below.

Saturday afternoon and night are usually the times for the highest attendance for the Pompano Beach event.  So this evening will be the big test to see how well the new location has worked out for this long time fun thing to do in Pompano Beach.

Tonight the two big acts to see will be Foghat and the Guess Who.  Both are veterans of Seafood Festival’s past.  They will both be performing inside the Pompano Beach Amphitheater so you won’t need to bring chairs to watch them.

Foghat is best known for their two smokers “Fool for the City” and “Slow Ride”.  Other hits include: “Drvin Wheel”, “Stone Blue”, “I Just Want to Make Love to You” and “Third Time Lucky (First Time I Was a Fool)”.

Current band members include: Roger Earl – drums (1971–1984, 1986–present), Bryan Bassett – lead guitar (1999–present), Charlie Huhn – lead vocals, rhythm guitar (2000–present) and Rodney O’Quinn – bass guitar (2015–present).  Earl is the last original member of the group.  Some of the key members have already passed away.

The Current line-up for The Guess Who consists of Derek Sharp, Rudy Sarzo, Will Evankovich, Garry Peterson, and Leonard Shaw.  Like Foghat, the drummer (Peterson) is the sole original member.

The Guess Who had about a dozen top 40 hits during their late 60s/early 70s heyday.  Among their biggest hits are:  American Woman, No Time, These Eyes, Share the Land, No Sugar Tonight, Laughing, Clap for the Wolfman, Hand Me Down World and Undone.

The Guess Who are from Canada, while Foghat originally hailed from England.  Tonight, for a few hours, both will call Pompano Beach home.
