By Jeff Levine, Pompano Beach News Columnist

Just a few days ago we reported that Galuppi’s on the Green restaurant on the Pompano Beach public golf course had been chosen by South New-Times as one of the ten best places to party in South Florida for St. Patrick’s Day.  We thought that was a great addition to the list and well deserved for the Pompano beach restaurant/hot spot.  We also wondered where Briny’s Irish Pub was on the list.

Briny’s on the corner of West Atlantic Blvd. and Briny Avenue is the only Briny’s left in Broward County as the famed Fort Lauderdale spot closed earlier this year.  We noted that Briny’s is a true Irish Pub and restaurant and that it is a hoot to visit 365-days a year.  Of course, March 17th is probably the best day of the year to visit Briny’s

Sun-Sentinel names Briny’s to their South Florida Top Ten List

We weren’t alone in our thinking.  Phillip Valys, Sun-Sentinel reporter was on the same wave length.  He commented, “We come for the Irish-blooded vibe and the once-a-year corned beef cabbage ($16) at this seaside tavern… To drink here is to be surrounded as much by chummy local drinkers as old-Florida décor (thick ropes, life preservers, photos of people holding thick ropes and life preservers).” Briny’s will no doubt be a blast all day long.

As for Galuppi’s, here are the highlights of their celebration:

Main Patio Stage
12pm to 3pm Tom O’Miller
1pm Irish Kelley Step dancers
3:00pm to 6:00pm Lane on the Guitar
5:15pm Irish Kelley Step dancers
6pm Irish Bag Pipes and Drummer
6:30pm – 8:30pm – Rogue Theory
9:00 pm – 11:00pm Tribute to U2

Plus there will be more entertainment in their restaurant dining room, the sports lounge and Galuppi’s beautiful backyard terrace.
Galuppi’s is located at 1103 N Federal Hwy in Pompano Beach.  Their phone number is 954-785-0226 or check out their website.
It’s great to see two of Pompano Beach restaurants making South Florida-wide top ten lists.  We already knew how great they were.  Now, the rest of South Florida will know too.
