A new Publix is planned as part of the redevelopment of the Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park into Live! Resorts Pompano – an entertainment, hotel, dining, retail, residential and office hub.

The Publix would occupy a site on the Isle Casino property’s northwest corner, which is being developed for commercial retail use. The entire Isle Casino property, located on the southeast corner of Powerline Road and SW 3rd Street (Racetrack Road), is being redeveloped by The Cordish Companies, which has already constructed 12 Live! facilities in cities throughout the United States, including Atlanta, Baltimore, St. Louis and Philadelphia.

According to the plans, which are currently going through the City’s review process, the one-story, 55,454-square-foot prototype Publix would have an attached liquor store, as well as a pharmacy with a drive-through window. The stand-alone building would also be occupied by a 10,913-square-foot retail store at the south end.

The remaining portion of the northwest corner retail development would feature 10 additional one-story stand-alone retail buildings for a total of 154,374 gross retail square footage. Approximately 835 surface parking spaces would be provided for the retail development.

The grocery store and retail buildings are framed by Racetrack Road, Powerline Road and the future Palm Aire Drive and Lucky Lane. The project site is a currently vacant 20.6-acre parcel within the 221.65-net acre Isle Casino property.

The retail development project “is designed as first-class vibrant retail providing the opportunity for small businesses to operate within the resort and will benefit the entire community,” according to the plans.

Currently, the City is also reviewing site plans for an e-commerce distribution center and an entertainment complex that are part of the Live! Resorts Pompano project.
