The Florida Department of Health in Broward County (DOH-Broward) will begin administering COVID-19 vaccinations by appointment only at Pompano Citi Centre next Wednesday, March 17. Pompano Citi Centre is located at 1955 N. Federal Highway, at the southwest corner of North Federal Highway and East Copans Road.

The City of Pompano Beach set up the COVID-19 vaccination site in the south parking lot of Pompano Citi Centre and had it ready to start operating on Jan. 25, but that date was postponed by the Department of Health, due to a shortage in vaccines, according to Pompano Beach Emergency Manager Kimberly Spill-Cristiano. The City stood ready to open the site as soon as vaccines became available, and had been urging state elected officials to help in any way they could to get vaccines to the site.

Eligibility

As per an executive order issued by Gov. Ron DeSantis, the following prioritized groups are eligible to receive a vaccine at the Pompano Citi Centre site: people 60 years of age and older; K-12 school employees 50 years of age and older; sworn law enforcement officers 50 years of age and older; firefighters 50 years of age and older; and health care personnel with direct patient contact.

In addition, anyone determined by a physician to be highly vulnerable to COVID-19 can receive a vaccine with a signed physician attestation.

Hours and Registration

The Pompano Citi Centre vaccination site will be open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8am until 4pm.

DOH-Broward is using the statewide appointment system. Individuals can pre-register for the vaccine by calling: 866-201-6313 or 844-252-2003 for TTY users, or by visiting myvaccine.fl.gov. All eligible individuals will be contacted when an appointment is available.

The City of Pompano Beach is partnering with DOH-Broward, Broward County and the Broward Sheriff’s Office by assisting with site staffing and resources. Since December, City personnel have been preparing with training sessions and drills, said Spill-Cristiano.

There are 10 stations set up at the Pompano Citi Centre vaccination site, which is a drive-through site. The owner of Pompano Citi Centre, Sterling Organization, is allowing the City to use the shopping center property for the vaccination site at no cost.

Pompano Beach Mayor Rex Hardin said he is “especially happy to see shots given in the northeast part of Broward County, which will make it easier for area residents.”
