Sitel Group, a global customer care provider, has just opened a new contact center in Pompano Beach, bringing 400 full-time jobs to the area.

Sitel expects to have all of the positions filled by mid-October, according to a spokesperson for the firm. So far, about a third of the new hires are residents of the Pompano Beach area who will fill both leadership and customer service roles. Sitel is recruiting in Pompano Beach and surrounding municipalities within a 25-mile radius.

Located at 2500 NW 19th St., the over 84,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility supports customers of Costco Wholesale – one of the world’s largest retailers – assisting shoppers through the online ordering process.

The starting salary for customer service representatives is $13 an hour; managers are paid a yearly salary in the $35,000 range. Employees are eligible for healthcare benefits (medical, dental, vision) after 60 days, paid time off after 90 days, and 401(k) retirement savings after one year.

Sitel anticipates expanding its operations and employment opportunities at the site, which had its grand opening last month. The number of employees is expected to rise to 1,000 in the near future, the spokesperson said.

Sitel set up a contact center in Pompano Beach in 2015 to assist customers of Capital One, the financial services company. Sitel closed the center about a year-and-a-half later, citing a loss of contracts as the reason.

Sitel has been working with Dahlia Baker, workforce program director for the Pompano Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, to place local workers at the new contact center.

“We’re excited that Sitel is back and that they’re looking to hire Pompano Beach residents,” said Baker.

Currently, Miami-based Sitel operates approximately 150 facilities in 25 countries, helping customers in North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific.
