THE OFFICIAL CINCO DE MAYO GUIDE FOR POMPANO BEACH, DEERFIELD BEACH, LHP AND LBTS
This Sunday is Cinco De Mayo. The Fifth of May. There are a bunch of fun things to do in Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach and neighboring towns to celebrate the event.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates Mexico’s underdog victory over a larger French Army in a battle in Mexico City in 1863. It is not a major holiday event in Mexico but has become a much bigger one in the United States, where alcoholic beverage companies started to promote it as a Mexican pride celebration in the 1980s.
It’s become one of those holidays, not unlike St. Patrick’s Day, where Americans of all backgrounds join in the celebration. Of course, Northern Broward County is no exception and we’ve got a bunch of events for you if you are looking for something fun to do.
