Among the dozens of delicious food tents at Pompano Beach’s Old Town Untapped celebration on first Fridays, you will find a booth for Dollar Rub Club. Get your mind out of the gutter! Dollar Rub Club is a subscription service for homemade seasoning rubs made by two local, passionate foodies, Brian and Travis. The pair of charismatic dudes founded Dollar Rub Club hoping to help others create amazing dishes that aren’t too  “thyme consuming.”

Point! Publishing reached out to Dollar Rub Club to learn more about Brian and Travis, how they started their business and what the deal is on their funny marketing innuendos.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”6571″ img_size=”full”][vc_single_image image=”6576″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]Where you were before you started this business? How did you two meet?

Travis and I met in corporate America in 2011 and over the next several years we identified we shared a passion for good food, good music and good times. We began to celebrate taco Tuesday, wing Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday followed by Fat Friday.

Tell us a bit of personal info about you both…who you are/ your personalities/your families/backgrounds/Any fun or quirky details about you?

Brian was born in D.R. with family roots in Cuba and Ireland.

Travis is a native Floridian with family roots in Barbados.

Brian likes chillin and grillin, jokin and smokin, shakin and bakin and enjoys craft beer so you might find him at some of the local breweries from time to time.

Travis is a meat head so he loves making a mean ribeye. So good it makes him want to dance bachata.

We are both family oriented, so naturally whenever there is a get together there is always good food.

We have a passion for experiencing unique and diverse foods so we started developing our own blends.

Both of us like to stay conscious of what we are eating and realize the importance of staying away from harmful additives in the food we consume.

We both like to be social and enjoy seeing people happy.

We also tend to overanalyze which shows in this response lol. But it’s also why we are very particular about the blends we choose.

How did you come up with the idea for Dollar Rub Club?

Dollar Rub Club was founded on our passion for diversity while keeping things simple. We found that creating amazing dishes were thymeconsuming and we would end up with tons of ingredients that would go to waste. So, we thought it would be great to deliver complete blends that created flavorful and unique dishes every month. Globally inspired and locally admired.

How did the funny innuendos come about?

We got jokes! But seriously, we like to have fun! We like to be unique! We enjoy diversity and so many facets of life such as food, music, pop culture and people. These influences can be found in the names of our blends, the bios behind the blends as well as the various applications and ways it can be prepared. We enjoy one liners, metaphors and rhymes.

When did you start the business and how has it grown?

We launched in Jan of 2018 and we have had positive growth month over month. Customer feedback has been super positive and customers look forward to the next blend. We are in a constant pursuit of learning, growing and experiencing.

What do you hope to accomplish with your business?

We want to rub the world the right way!

Dollar Rub Club is a monthly subscription box. Our goal is to continuously deliver a variety of globally inspired blends that are all natural, gluten free, non GMO and MSG free that pack flavor and versatility.

We also would like to feature other rub and seasoning companies by giving them a platform to promote their products, while letting rubscribers experience something a little outside of the box..lol.

Last but not least create a community that shares cooking tips, recipes and love. Food brings people together. You learn a lot about someone when you share a meal together. – Anthony Bourdain[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
