[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This Sunday is Cinco De Mayo.  The Fifth of May.  There are a bunch of fun things to do in Pompano Beach, Deerfield Beach and neighboring towns to celebrate the event.

Cinco de Mayo commemorates Mexico’s underdog victory over a larger French Army in a battle in Mexico City in 1863.  It is not a major holiday event in Mexico but has become a much bigger one in the United States, where alcoholic beverage companies started to promote it as a Mexican pride celebration in the 1980s.

It’s become one of those holidays, not unlike St. Patrick’s Day, where Americans of all backgrounds join in the celebration.  Of course, Northern Broward County is no exception and we’ve got a bunch of events for you if you are looking for something fun to do.

Baja Cafe, 1310 S Federal Hwy, Deerfield Beach

A block party from 2 pm to 11 pm with Live entertainment (Music, dancers, luchadors), free giveaways, food and drink specials including Exotico Tequilla Margarita Specials.

They wil be joining in on the fun by serving up a scratch-made Egg Burrito during their brunch. Guests can enjoy unlimited bubbly with a rooftop view and stay the afternoon for half-priced margaritas from 4pm to 7pm.

Casa Maya Grill in the Cove Shopping Center, 301 SE 15th Terrace, Deerfield Beach

Galuppi’s, 1103 North Federal Highway, Pompano Beach

This one is a bit different.  A fun-filled interactive Murder Mystery presented by Standing Room Only Productions. The entire crowd will be asked to help to try to solve the crime!

Le Bistro4626 North Federal Highway in Lighthouse Point

French Cinco de Mayo.  As we mentioned the French lost to the Mexicans on Cinco de Mayo, that doesn’t mean this Lighthouse Point French restaurant can’t get in on the festivities with a special Mexican infused menu.
