WALL STREET’S CONTROL OF THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM
Wendell Potter walked away as head of communications at a top health insurance company in May of 2008, stating “The industry has high-jacked our healthcare system and turned it into a giant ATM for Wall Street!”
How could you not have the greatest respect for a man making a tremendous salary with bonuses and trips on private jets who, after some serious soul-searching, decided to quit the company and write “Deadly Spin,” where he reveals many secrets about the corrupt dealings in the healthcare industry, the affiliations with Congress and the great need to fill the pockets of their shareholders.
America is in a ‘deadly spin’ and Wall Street is the culprit because it controls every move that Congress makes, including unnecessary wars. If we do not make ourselves heard now, we will get what we deserve! Here’s a quote that says it all: “The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who in times of great moral crisis maintain their neutrality” (Dante Alighieri)
READERS LOVE OUR TRAVELOGUES
The responses to the wonderful travel stories and photographs by local residents Bill and Judy Sullivan and Eunice Hamblen have been fantastic. Their worldwide explorations and detailed, comprehensive storytelling have been instrumental in inspiring many to take similar trips here and abroad. On occasion, you also may have seen an article regarding one of my own escapades.
Through the months, our travel articles have covered places in the world such as England, Cuba, Iceland, Bahamas, St. Thomas, Italy, Sicily, Canada, Antarctica, New Orleans, Panama and New Zealand, just to name a few.
This month, the Sullivan’s take us on a colorful trip to Viet Nam, land of Dragons and a culture still mysterious and unknown to most people.
